The media could not be loaded.I am a Vine reviewer who actually opens the box, really tests, really evaluates, and writes really honest unbiased reviews of products. Really.I always go back and read the advertiser description and other reviews. These calipers will be used on an electric bike I am building over the winter. This will be my second ebike. The first one, built with all parts ordered from Amazon 2 years ago has 5700 miles on it and was (almost) extremely successful. However, I built the bike “backwards”. I first installed a 1500-watt motor to see if it would actually work/run, and then “fixed” everything else. The first bike has rim brakes and is extremely hard to stop. So, the second bike will be built by perfecting the brakes FIRST. I am using mechanical disk brakes for simplicity.I have fitted up one of the calipers on the front using a 203mm rotor and caliper bracket ordered from Amazon and it seems to work very well.I temporarily mounted a caliper on the rear with the stock 160mm rotor in place (which will be upgraded) and I noticed that the caliper comes very close to the spokes, so I don’t know if there will be clearance for a big ‘ol 1500-watt hub motor when I finally decide which one to order. When I first received these calipers, I of course immediately took one apart to see how it worked, and of course both pistons fell out. I then had to figure out how to put it back together. I finally taped both “pistons” (pucks?) in place so I could re-install the pads. I guess you’re not supposed to remove the pads unless there is a rotor in place.I don’t like that there is no cable adjustment provided where the cable inserts into the caliper. Although it is easy to adjust the cable, I would have still preferred some adjustment capability here.Since the bike is not completed yet, I can’t comment on the actual performance of the caliper, but they feel pretty good with a couple of low-speed stops. (My knees are not good so I can’t really pedal, so that is why I use electric bikes)I *DO* like that both pads move, and the caliper seems to grip really well. Caliper moves very smoothly and has real strong return strength.I appreciate the caliper brackets being included. Always nice to have extras.I’ll report back when I really use these.
